Central Earns ESEA Distinguished School Award

Central Elementary is proud to be one of only two schools in Nebraska, and one of just sixty-nine schools nationwide, to earn this esteemed recognition.

A special video, created by Kearney High School Media Productions teacher Robert Goff and his talented students, will be showcased at the convention. We extend our heartfelt thanks to KHS Senior Ayden Schaffnitt for dedicating his time at Central Elementary to gather and produce media content. The video beautifully highlights our school and the incredible efforts made by our students and staff to achieve remarkable academic success.

This award is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student performance and outstanding academic growth. hello I'm Teresa snow the principal at Central Elementary in Kearney Nebraska our beautiful building is listed on the National Registry of historic places yet our instructional practices reflect the latest research we proudly serve a hard-working supportive community and believe that the diversity of our student population is our greatest asset our success is rooted in the expertise of our dedicated teachers and staff and our collect focus on student growth and achievement the recent edition of multi-tiered system of supports along with our full-time social worker and counselor have significantly enhanced our ability to meet our long-standing goals we want most students to improve their academic performance and more students to achieve academic benchmarks all while cultivating the work ethics attitudes and behaviors that will benefit students throughout their lives we are committed to academic Excellence offering rigorous Tier 1 curriculums and highly effective tier 2 supports our school houses at District tier 3 program for students with severe and profound disabilities with a strong commitment to integrating these students into our Tier 1 classrooms daily physical education enriching field trips a professional Fine Arts Center and our vibrant after school program further enrich our classroom instruction our collaborative team approach effectively removes barriers between programs enhancing instruction across all settings we extensively use data to guide instructional decisions allocate resources efficiently and measure the effectiveness of our efforts our office team ensures a protected instructional environment by actively serving the social emotional and behavior needs of our students allowing teachers to focus on teaching in short our success is a collective effort aimed at creating a thriving educational environment for every student we are grateful to the Nebraska Department of Education and Esa for recognizing our efforts with the distinguished School
